
Chatley Heath Semaphore Tower and Bolder Mere
Walk on Chatley Heath to see the only remaining 4 storey semaphore tower on the London to Portsmouth chain.
Date: Monday 12th September
Time: Arrive 10.00am for 10.15 start. Finish around 12 noon.
Meet: Pond Car Park by Ockham Bites café just off the M25/A3 junction.
Any travel advice: From Guildford, on A3, round M25 junction, back on A3 and 1st Left on Old Lane and 1st Left to café.

Description of walk: This is the 200th anniversary of the semaphore line from London to Portsmouth. This walk goes across heathland to show the only remaining 4 storey semaphore tower on the route. We will also visit a mausoleum and see the tranquil Bolder Mere so near the A3. Other WalkFest walks will do parts of the semaphore tower route linking the semaphores. Optional café stop at end.
Any specific walk / conditions issues: Take care when crossing Old Lane (twice). No stiles.
Dogs allowed / not allowed?: Well behaved dogs welcome. Max 1 per couple. Must be on leads near roads. Please note – you must follow leader’s instructions on your dog.
