Guildford Borough's Writers
SATURDAY 25 SEPTEMBER
Over the centuries, many writers have included locations within the modern Borough of Guildford as settings for their books. Numerous others have either lived in the area or been regular visitors.
To support Guildford Book Festival, which takes place during October, our Walkfest is pleased to include a walk based on these writers and their works.
This event will be an informative stroll around the central part of Guildford town with stops at various points to explain their literary significance or to talk about some of our local authors and their books.
Time: Arrive 2.15pm for 2.30pm start, finish around 4pm
Meet: Outside Guildford Library, 77 North Street, Guildford GU1 4AL
Length of walk: 2 miles
General Notes: This walk will take in the area from Upper High Street down to (and across) the Town Bridge and along Millmead before ending outside the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre. Timing for finish is very approximate
