
Walkfest Chairmans Event - A walk around Albury Heath and Shere
SATURDAY 11 SEPTEMBER
Join the Chairman of Guildford’s Walkfest for this 4 ½ mile( 7km) walk around the magical woods of Albury, Albury Saxon Church and the historic and popular village of Shere before returning to Albury Heath for an optional picnic.
The Grade 1 listed Albury Saxon Church dates from the Anglo Saxon period. It has been used in many movies and TV series including “Four Weddings and a Funeral”, and “Hornblower”. Shere is one of the Surrey Hills’ most popular villages – with tourists and film companies alike. St James Church in Shere also appeared in “Four Weddings and a Funeral” as well as “Bridget Jones - Edge of Reason”, and “The Wedding Date”.
We will stop to explore Shere and enjoy a coffee or ice cream before returning to Albury Heath, where participants can stay on for a BYO picnic (weather permitting).
Time: 10.30am for 11am prompt start Finish about 1.00pm
Meet: Starting point is the car park adjacent to the Albury Heath Cricket Ground, Sandy Lane, Albury Heath.

Travel Notes: From the A25, travelling from Guildford, turn right onto A248, then after 600 yards, left on to New Road. Car park is on right after about half a mile
Length of walk: 4.5 miles
General Notes: Option to BYO refreshments for our stop in Shere, or purchase a drink at one of the cafes in the village.
Bring Your own picnic for when we return to Albury Heath at the end of the morning walk.
THERE ARE NO TOILETS AVAILABLE AT THE END OF THE WALK. Public toilets available in Shere.
Well behaved dogs welcome on leads. Not suitable for children.
