Description of walk:A chance to be guided by local site Rangers from Blackwater Valley and representatives from the Land Trust who manage Ash Green Meadows, a beautiful wildflower rich grassland in Ash and Suitable Alternative Natural Greenspace (SANG) along with the Surrey Young Walkers who will extend the walk into the wider Surrey countryside.
Meeting at South Lane car park we walk down the old railway line before heading across Ash Green Meadows towards the outskirts of Tongham. Next, we take a footpath through fields to the back of the Hogs Back hotel. We then head along the A31 before crossing to Seale. We follow the road until reaching the North Downs Way.
We follow the North Downs Way all the way to Puttenham before heading across Puttenham Heath. This is the turning point where we head back towards the A31 and towards Wanbourgh. We then carry on till we end up at Christmas Pie where we join the Christmas Pie trail back through Ash Green Meadows and on to the car park.
As this is a day walk make sure that you bring lunch and have suitable clothing for the conditions eg jacket if cold and sun hat and suncream if warm.
There is an option to stop at the Good Intent at Puttenham for a drink only - but that can be decided on the day.
We welcome everyone of all ages to celebrate this amazing festival of walking.
Dogs on leads allowed.
Length of Walk: 10.9 mile (17.6 km)
