Guildford Town Bridge, High St, Guildford GU2 4SZ
About the event
Time: 1930 for prompt start. Finishing at 2030
Meet: Guildford town bridge, at the bottom of the high street
what3words address: ///sticks.goat.social
Description of walk:. We’ll meet at the bridge for a short introduction to bats covering: what they are, what they do, why they are amazing and how we can help them out. Then we’ll take a short walk down the river, hoping to see some bats flying around. We’ll have some bat detectors with us which we’ll pass around so everyone will be able to hear the bats doing their echolocation calls. We’ll stop a couple more times as we walk to talk more about bats. We’ll then complete the loop and bring everyone back to the town bridge roughly an hour later.
Any specific walk / conditions issues: A loop around the bottom of Guildford. Pavements or towpath the whole way. Reliant on the weather being dry and not too windy as the bats won’t show otherwise. N.B we can’t guarantee any bats will show up, but we can guarantee you’ll learn a lot about them.
Bring a torch if you would like too and wear comfortable walking shoes.
This event will have a limit of 25 people. Please notify event organiser Sarah Davis if you have booked a ticket and are unable to come, so we can release to others when full.
