
Guildford to Witley and site of Semaphore Tower
A linear walk from Guildford to Witley following the semaphore towers route to the site of the Bannacle Hill Semaphore.

Any travel advice: This is a linear walk. Return by train from Witley station by train or bus.
Description of walk: This is the 200th anniversary of the semaphore line from London to Portsmouth. This walk is part of the route linking all the semaphores. See site of the Semaphore at Bannacle Hill. Walk by Wey towpath to Godalming - coffee/snack stop. Then uphill through Godalming by Milford station to Witley and by paths to see Semaphore site (No. 8) on Bannacle Hill at Sandhills, then to Witley station. Bring picnic.
Any specific walk / conditions issues: there are a few roads to cross. Take care especially in Witley. There is a hilly stretch through Godalming and another in Sandhills
Dogs allowed / not allowed?: Well behaved dogs welcome. Max 1 per couple. Must be on leads near roads. Please note – you must follow leader’s instructions for your dog.
