Description of walk: This walk is mostly off-road on quiet paths around Pirbright and Worplesdon. We pass the Institute for Animal Health and a commercial lab, now owned by Boehringer Ingelheim but which in 2007 was Merial Animal Health lab. A leak from one of these labs was responsible for the 2007 outbreak of foot and mouth disease.
Any specific walk / conditions issues: There are a number of gates but no stiles on this walk. There is a section of boardwalk with a few damaged or missing slats which will require care. Sections may be muddy, depending on the weather in the preceding weeks, so stout walking shoes or boots may be advisable.
Optional drink and/or lunch at the end of the walk. Those arriving early can also get a drink from either the mobile stand at the end of the car park or The Yurt Café behind The Cricketers on the corner of the green.
Dogs allowed / not allowed?: Well behaved dogs welcome on leads
Length of Walk: 5.7 miles
