We are already well into Week 2 of this years Walkfest and my feet have hardly touched the ground.  Apart from the launch event, I didn’t manage to fit in any of the Week 1 walks but am making up for it this week with at least three sessions – including the long one along the North Downs Way from Guildford to Dorking.

But I wasn’t slacking last week – honest!!  This year, Dorking is holding it’s own walking festival between 20th – 28th September.  In the background, our Guildford Walkfest Chairman has been giving them some tips and Surrey Hills Society has offered a walk from West Street up to the top on the North Downs Way, via “Denbies Hillside”,  and then down through Denbies Vineyard and back to West Street.  This is a little over 4 miles and you can select your own highlight:  will it be the panoramic view from the heights of the NDW, the Radius Sculptural Bench (with the chance to sit for a moment) or the fact that the walk starts and ends at the Kings Arms. I know that this is going to be a great walk because I check-walked it at the weekend.

Why not join us? Follow this Link for more information about the Festival and click HERE to go direct to the booking page for the walk described above.

Elsewhere, our volunteer Administrator has been busy with lots of social media posts.  I’ve been following his Facebook output – some great content so, again, take a look and follow us. Just look for Guildford Walkfest.

There is still plenty of time to check out the programme for the rest of September and get some walks into your diaries.

Happy walking.
