Lyme Disease...a word of warning

March 31, 2018

Although the number of cases of Lyme disease is relatively small across England and Wales (estimated 2,000-3,000 new confirmed cases), Surrey is identified by the Public Health England (PHE) as one of the areas where infection occurs most frequently (PHE identifies 10 counties/areas).

Over the last 10 years we have seen an increase in incidence in England and Wales, which is due to many reasons, including increased awareness, more sensitive diagnostic tests and better surveillance, as well as increase in walking/mountain biking.

We want everyone to enjoy the beautiful countryside around Guildford and we are delighted to help raise awareness of this uncommon but serious issue.
