The start of Guildford Walking Festival 2019 is now only a month away. The web listing is up and running, the brochures are available from numerous locations in and around Guildford and it’s time for you to start thinking about which walks you would like to join.
We have a marvelous mix of topics, distances and groups for you to choose from.
If you are new to the idea of walking for pleasure or can only manage shorter distances then we have a whole range of short walks provided by various groups – including “Walking for Health” and “The Walking Club”.
For those who like a longer walk, getting deeper into the glorious countryside which surrounds Guildford the local “Guildford Rambling Club” and “Guildford Group of The Ramblers Association” have numerous offerings for you.
For a cultural theme, how about some of the Guildford town centre walks led by our incredibly knowledgeable Town Guides. These walks only cover a short distance but highlight so many of the fascinating aspects of our town which go un-noticed during our day to day lives.
As always, we have a number of “special topic” walks – including a Herb Walk with a medical herbalist, several parish walks plus watery themes (with both the Wey and the Wey & Arun Canal featuring this year.
The Surrey Hills Society is hosting a significant number of events to help you get out and about and, this year, are including several which take in the Tillingbourne Valley and its industrial history.
Truly, there is something for everyone - and remember – for most of the walks, you don’t even need to book in advance. But do, please, check the website or the brochure for the events you are interested in. Full details are available there.
In the meantime, Keep Healthy, Keep Walking!
