Any travel advice: Guildford is well served with both bus and rail connections and Wharf Road is off Woodbridge Road near the sports ground with bus stops either side of the road.

Description of walk: Relatively flat and easy walking along the towpath of the navigation to Stoke Lock. Then over to the Riverside Nature Reserve, part of which will be walking along a wooden boardwalk. Pass Stoke Lake, taking a footpath to pick up the path beside the natural river and on through woodland. Use the pedestrian crossing at Parkway, then walk across Stoke Park to Stoke Road, and  down Markenfield Road back to Dapdune Wharf. Along the route there will be pauses during which David will give plenty of fascinating details of local and natural history, all in conversation with those on the walk.

Any specific walk conditions / issues: The ground around the edge of Stoke Lake and its adjoining field can be muddy if heavy rain has fallen

Dogs allowed / not allowed?: Dogs on leads allowed

Length of Walk: 3.5 miles approx (5.6 km)
