A Whitmoor Wander with "Muddy Boots"

The "Muddy Boots" group invites you to join them on an easy flat walk enjoying the woodland, grasslands, ponds and open heath of Whitmoor Common.

Date: Monday 18th September

Time: 10.00 am for prompt start.  Finishing at 11.30 am

Meet: At the QE Park Baptist Church & Centre, Railton Road, Queen Elizabeth Park, Stoughton. GU2 9LX

Any travel advice: Bus 2 from Guildford Friary Bus station, Bay 8;  alight in Grange Road at Railton Road, then walk along Railton Road to QE Park Centre. By car; from Grange Road turn into Railton Road to park adjacent to Centre. Refreshments will be available at the QE Park Centre after the walk

Description of walk: Whitmoor is a local Nature Reserve managed by Surrey Wildlife Trust on behalf of Surrey County Council and is recognised as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and a Special Protection Area (SPA) to protect rare, vulnerable and migratory birds. It is the largest area of open heathland in the Guildford area and has been awarded the highest standard for heathland management by Natural England.

​Any specific walk conditions / issues:  There is a main road to cross before reaching Whitmoor Common. Some areas are a bit boggy but that adds to the fun.

Dogs allowed / not allowed?: Dogs allowed if well controlled and don’t jump up on people

 

Length of Walk: 2 walks available: 2 miles for less able, 3 miles for more able
